SLRA Prefect Update:

Members from the St. Louis Rocketry Association made the trip to Argonia, KS over the Labor Day weekend to attend AIRFest 31 sponsored by Kloudbusters. The annual four-day event at the “Rocket Pasture” had over 250 registered flyers and 20 vendors on site. This year, mother nature catered to the lower power crowed with ceilings as low as 200 feet at times leaving plenty of time for rocket talk, checking in with old friends and buying new rockets to bring home! As late day rolled around on Saturday and Sunday, the sky cleared enough to open the high-power pads allowing for some spectacular launches. Club members also spent time volunteering for range duties, setting up, tearing down and other duties in support of the Kloudbusters. Congratulations also goes out to Chuck Meckfessel, John Hilker and John O’Neill on their successful Level 2 flights and Rob Benton on his successful Level 3 flight. If anyone is interesting in making the trip with the club next year, please let me know.

Club members in attendance were:Rob Benton, Oliver Garbus, Jason Garbus, Brian Hamilton, Don Hanson, John Hilker, Chris Lagemann, Chuck Meckfessel, Molly Meckfessel, Emma Meckfessel John O’Neill and Doug Probst

Flooding in Elsberry

Mike Walsh asked me to send out a message as an FYI to the club membership. As you may have seen on the news, there has been significant flooding in Elsberry (where our high power launch site is located) and a state of emergency declared. Per Lincoln County Emergency Management (see attached), everyone is advised to avoid the area unless absolutely necessary. Also, please do not attempt to contact the landowner - the club's landowner contacts will be in touch with them and will communicate the status when we have it.

Screenshot of post from Lincoln County Emergency Management: The City of Elsberry and Lincoln County have declared a State of Emergency. Flash Flooding is currently impacting the City of Elsberry and surrounding areas. Lincoln County Emergency Management has requested activation of the Region C Boat Rescue Strike Team, which is en route at this time. Please avoid the area. Water rescues and evacuations are actively underway.
